Dear Sentinel Hub Community,
Please note that we will deprecate the Sentinel Hub deployment on creodias.sentinel-hub.com due to the planned discontinuation of the CF2 cloud infrastructure by CloudFerro. This change will take effect on March 31, 2025. While this decision will impact ongoing operations for a small subset of our users, we’ve ensured a simple pathway to maintain and enhance your access to Sentinel Hub services.
IMPORTANT: For those who only use the services.sentinel-hub.com or services-uswest2.sentinel-hub.com endpoints, nothing will change, and no action is required. We will contact our affected customers directly in the next few days.
Call to Action: Ensure Continued Access
Some features of Sentinel Hub will cease to function unless you take action. However, transitioning is straightforward and comes with added benefits:
- Create an account on the Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem (CDSE). CDSE hosts a Sentinel Hub deployment with the same features, full portfolio of Sentinel data, quarterly Sentinel-2 cloudless mosaics, monthly Sentinel-1 backscatter mosaics, additional collections (and more to come in the near future). Make sure to use the same email address as your current sentinel-hub.com account. Due to CDSE accounts being managed by the European Space Agency, a new registration is required.
- Request Subscription Linking by sending an e-mail to support@sentinel-hub.com asking to link your current subscription to your new CDSE account.
- Create new Sentinel Hub configurations within CDSE and update your environment accordingly.
- API Adjustments
- For users of Process and Statistical APIs, replacing the endpoint creodias.sentinel-hub.com with sh.dataspace.copernicus.eu will often suffice.
- For those using OGC services, you will need to change the INSTANCE_ID as well.
- If you’re using EO Browser, you can access equivalent or superior features via Copernicus Browser.
- Dual Deployment Benefits - customers can leverage both the sentinel-hub.com and CDSE deployments simultaneously, enjoying the best of both systems.
Consequences of Inaction
Failure to complete the transition by March 31, 2025, will result in:
- Service Interruptions: All requests to creodias.sentinel-hub.com will fail.
- Data Access Limitations: Some data collections (e.g. Sentinel-3, Sentinel-5P and Copernicus Land Monitoring Services) will no longer be accessible via sentinel-hub.com.
- BYOC Data Hosting: Customer’s data hosted on CF2 and ingested as BYOC will cease to function.
New Opportunities with CDSE
By making use of the CDSE deployment, you’ll gain access to:
- The same comprehensive feature set with additional data collections.
- Enhanced services within the Copernicus Browser.
- Continued support and the ability to work seamlessly with both deployments.
