Looking for high resolution images of a specific area on a specific date and time frame, is this possible? A boat sank a mile offshore, the three people on board drowned, a Father and Son, 7 years old, and an adult friend. The bodies of the two men were recovered the next day 8 miles offshore, the boys body has not been found. I volunteered with Tomnod years ago searching through satellite images for the missing flight MH370, so I thought maybe there were images that might give some clue as to where this child’s body may have drifted. His Mother lost her Husband and only Son, and she wants to bury her Son, Hunter, by his Father. I know this is a long shot, but any advice or direction would be appreciated. Much Thanks in advance.
Hi Diane,
Firstly, we are really sorry to hear about this story.
The freely available satellite data served by Sentinel Hub are designed to monitor large-scale activities/processes on the Earth’s surface such as agriculture, biodiversity changes, climate and many more… The satellites used for these purposes do not have a high-enough resolution (not sharp enough) to see individuals, cars etc… Here is an example of the highest-resolution open images we offer over a city: https://sentinelshare.page.link/NH7K
We do also offer access to high-resolution commercial satellite imagery (at a cost), but you have to be aware that satellites don’t acquire images everyday, sometimes the images are hindered by clouds. Furthermore, when you do get an acquisition it is a a very specific point in time, which may not correspond to your time-frame. I don’t think that high-resolution images would provide you with valuable information.
