Update to EO Browser

Dear User,

Over the next few months we will be enhancing EO Browser as part of Planet Insights Platform. With these changes, we plan to deprecate the current EO Browser and are sharing these details to help you navigate through this transition smoothly.

A lot has happened since the first version of EO Browser was released more than seven years ago! EO Browser has evolved over three major versions and hundreds of minor releases, bringing you dozens of new datasets and functionality. And we have been thrilled with the variety of ways you have used the product.

There have also been changes outside of EO Browser. Almost two years ago Copernicus Browser was born as part of the Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem and about a year ago Sentinel Hub became part of Planet Insights Platform.

Since EO Browser is ripe for a major overhaul, we decided to deeply integrate it into Planet Insights Platform and deprecate the old version.

What you need to know

If you have a subscription to Sentinel Hub or Planet Insights Platform

If you use EO Browser with a Sentinel Hub or Planet subscription, you can continue to access EO Browser for the next several months. Once we launch the next version of Planet Insights Platform, we will also announce a date for deprecating the old application. At the same time, you will have the opportunity to test our new application, enabling you to plan the transfer of your processes.

The new application will maintain the same functionality that you are used to in EO Browser, including support for open EO data, while adding many more improvements for working with Planet data such as PlanetScope, Planetary Variables and SkySat.

If you do not have a subscription to Sentinel Hub

If you are currently enjoying EO Browser as a free or anonymous user, we invite you to take a look at Copernicus Browser. Developed under governance of ESA and the European Commission, Copernicus Browser is the tool to search for, visualize, and analyze data from the Copernicus Sentinel missions. We trust that you will find your way around the new interface in no time. You will recognize many features that you already know from EO Browser, but also new ones. To make the transition easier for you, we encourage you to take a look at our EO Browser to Copernicus Browser transition guide.

Stay tuned for further updates!

Best,
The EO Browser Development Team
